The Little Apple Pastry Shop

In the quaint village of Aldie, bakers Kay Pitts and Margaret Hawes start their day in the middle of the night. They arrive at the Little Apple Pastry Shop and start baking their famous cinnamon rolls, pies, lemon bars, brownies, croissants and biscuits. Then they put in the turkey and make the homemade stuffing. Every day is Thanksgiving at this shop.

Sweet Candy Company

In 1892 Leon Sweet started the Sweet Candy Company in Portland, Oregon. In the beginning, Sweet’s manufactured just a few varieties of candy. However, the candy that Leon offered for sale had two distinguishing characteristics: the candy was mostly made by hand, and folks loved it. They loved it because of the quality. In 1900 Leon moved the operation from Portland to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he merged several small specialty stores into one general line manufacturing company. Over the years, Sweet’s has become more innovative and more automated.

Lehi Roller Mills

By 1905, Lehi farmers were getting tired of hauling wheat to American Fork for milling — something they had been doing for 15 years since the Spring Creek Flour Mill went out of business. But in June of that year came an announcement in the Lehi Banner: A group of businessmen and other shareholders, who each invested $20,000, were forming a co-op to build a "a new flour mill with modern pattern and equipment."
