Chicago style deep dish pizza is the heartiest of the pizza varieties and typically eaten with a knife and fork. The dough is patted out by hand and raised up high on the sides of a seasoned deep dish pizza pan. Contrary to some beliefs true Chicago style pizza does not have a thick crust, it's a relatively thin crust pulled up high on the sides of a deep dish pan to encase the delicious ingredients.

The Gino's East story began in 1966 when two taxi drivers and a friend, frustrated with rush hour traffic, decided to open a pizzeria just off Michigan Ave. and Superior St. in Chicago. The Original Gino's East became an instant legend with local Chicagoans, national celebrities and visitors from around the world.

Since 1978 Edwardo's Natural Pizza Restaurants have been building a reputation on our innovative Chicago-style stuffed pizza loaded with fresh and natural ingredients. Edwardo's is well known throughout the Midwest and has been acclaimed by food critics and in newspaper readers' polls for "favorite pizza" in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. In 1994 Edwardo's "took off" as, United Airlines served our personal size pizzas, on their domestic first class, coach and selected foreign flights.

Edwardo's hallmark product is a two-inch high pizza stuffed with cheese and spinach, topped with a light crust and baked in a pan to golden perfection. Other Edwardo's innovations have included pesto pizza, and whole wheat crust. The thing about pizza is that like everything good, it has to have an evolution. To stay the same means to go backward. It wasn't my mother or my brother and myself who invented the pizza we serve here. The recipe probably began with our great, great, great, great, great-grandmother. You ask how long it took to develop the recipe. I'd have to say 200 to 300 years. And it's still developing."
