America's Best Steaks

As quality conscious beef producers, we were constantly asked: "Where can we find good beef on a regular basis?" In response, a small group of committed beef producers and consumers set out to produce the most naturally tender, juicy, and flavorful beefsteak possible on a consistent basis and at a reasonable price.

Rube's Steaks

Rube's Steaks

Rube’s began in 1973 when Glen Rubenbauer, “Rube,” opened up a tavern in the small-town of Montour, Iowa. Things were going well, but this entrepreneur wanted to start doing something new and innovative. A friend suggested that he start serving steaks, but Rube thought he’d take it a step further. He decided to let the customers grill the steaks themselves. Rube teamed up with some local merchants and began buying beef for his legacy. Customers could choose from a 26 oz. T-bone, 28 oz. Sirloin, 22 oz. Rib eye, or 32 oz. Ham. All of these steaks came with one free drink, salad bar, potato, and bread – all for $6.95. His philosophy was to provide a good steak and a good drink at a reasonable price, and word quickly spread about this unique concept.
