Peaceful Pastures

Consumers are increasingly concerned about their food; E. coli, Mad Cow, downer cows, and massive recalls dominate public fears. But there is an answer - "know your farmer, know your food"! By speaking directly with the farmer you can ask the questions that are most important to you: Grassfed and grass finished? Hormone implants? Antibiotics in feed? Insecticides? Humane treatment and slaughter? At Peaceful Pastures we, Jenny and Darrin Drake, are here for You! We welcome your questions and pledge to answer them in a forthright and honest manner. We love what we do for a living and are blessed to be able to share it with you and your family. As full time farmers, we are dedicated to producing and providing the best meats possible naturally, on pasture and with integrity.

Ole Smoky General Store

We take great pride in the fine quality of our hams. Our folks down in Madisonvillle use the old-time process -sugar, salt, and other curing spices -and salt them down on maple boards like the old country smokehouse. Each ham is rubbed more than once with the curing formula. It takes a lot of patience and requires about six to eight months to produce a real quality country ham. The secret is in having just the right amount of salt and curing spices and then waiting for nature to do the curing. We think we have the perfect balance.

Clifty Farm

When my father, Truman Murphey, cured his first ham over 70 years ago, he probably didn't realize the "family tradition" he had begun. Now, the third generation is curing hams in our family owned business. The curing process, which is our secret recipe, that produces the delicate flavor of a Real Hickory Smoked Country Ham, has not changed from generation to generation. We take this same care with our Hickory Smoked Country Bacon, Sausage, Barbecue and other fine products.

Lancaster's Barbecue

Jim Lancaster, President of Lancaster's BBQ Inc, first experienced the food service business in 1964 in Louisburg, North Carolina. This took place in a little restaurant named Boulevard Drive Inn. Breakfast, lunch and plate dinners were served, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers. "Curb Hops" waited on the customers there. This was the beginning of thirty eight years of many pounds of good hot food being served to a whole lot of people. Yes, through the thirty-eight years, Lancaster's BBQ has gained a lot of knowledge and valuable experience.
