AJ Machado is a radio personality who hosts San Diego's popular morning show AJ's Playhouse on Channel 933 (93.3 FM in San Diego). As a food lover living in a city whose population features a lot of transplants, he was constantly hearing people talk about missing the foods from their home cities. He knew that almost all of these foods were available by mail and had the idea to create a website that would bring them all together.

Alex Richard is a local San Diego computer consultant who recently launched his own business. AJ was one of Alex's first clients, and the two became fast friends. AJ pitched the idea of Eat Your Mailbox and Alex, loving a good meal as much as anyone, quickly agreed to the partnership.
